A work that makes use of the subtraction plays that I have been studying so far.
──How was the dubbing? I think I was listening to Mr. Hanazawa's Xiaohei voice and the original sound that was recorded earlier.
Yuuki:Anyway, it was very difficult to play the adorable Xiaohei without thinking that she was cute (lol). And Louie's original performance was a very subtractive play. For some reason, I had the impression that the voice actors in foreign productions were very active, but their subtraction was exquisite, so I relied on them. I'm like, “I don't mind pulling back this much! If that's the case, I guess it's okay to pull back even more if it's Japanese.”
Also, Xiaohei puts in a lot of reactions, so on the other hand, there are times when Luie looks stronger when she's silent, so while thinking about that balance, she just pulls back and pulls back and lets out the parts that look cool! That's what I was thinking. But the sound director told me not to make it too cool. I had received an order to leave the girl in just 2mm because I wanted to connect to the soft side of her in the end, so if that's the case, wouldn't it be cuter this way? I also thought about things like this.
──While being conscious of the original sound, responding to the direction, and interacting with Xiaohei's voice. There was a lot to think about, but on the other hand, I think it was a really fun recording session for Yuki-san. I thought so.
Yuuki:It was interesting! I feel that plays that involve subtraction are more difficult than plays that involve addition, so I thought that I could put what I had learned up until now to good use. Of course, the parts that should be covered are well covered. Especially around the second half. Also, I wanted everyone who was watching to have a good time watching it, so I put a lot of emphasis on the sense of rhythm as I performed.
──Are the action scenes different from those in Japanese anime?
Yuuki:That's where I was able to stay quite faithful to the original sound. The original sound was really good and had the skill of a craftsman, so I used that as a guide and thought, “This is what the Japanese version of Louie that she is playing'' would be great if I could do it as much as possible.
──Mr. Hanazawa also said that he would like to see the original sound (subtitled version) as well.
Yuuki:Really! I would also like to meet you once. I wonder who was playing the role.
──Please tell us your impressions after watching the completed film.
Yuuki:I was told this while recording, but it seems that most of the characters, including the mobs that pass by, have their own settings. As I was looking at it, I thought it had an incredible three-dimensional effect, as it was made with such care. It was amazing from the first movie, but the second movie has more characters, so it feels more three-dimensional. There are many attractive characters, so even those who liked the first game will enjoy digging deeper into the world.
I also think the actions are even cooler, especially Louie's ability to manipulate gravity, making his movements extremely acrobatic. I think each character's action scenes have their own individuality and are really perfect!
──There were many melodic characters on the fairy side, but were there any characters that left an impression on you?
Yuuki:A (CV: Junya Enoki) and Otsu (CV: Kamiya Tsuchiya), who were watching over Rouie, sometimes fought together, which left an impression on me. It was when he was working with them that Louie's insensitivity came out, and I thought there was a gap between their sweetness and Louie's never letting up.
──So, where was your favorite scene?
Yuuki:There are a lot of them, but I think everyone will like the scene where Xiaohei and Ruye stay at a luxury hotel. Xiaohei's first luxury is so cute! I also like the way Xiaohei and Luie become buddies towards the end of the story. There are moments when Xiaohei becomes reliable. I liked that it was a step-by-step process.
──What did you think about the theme of the work?
Yuuki:It was supposed to be a story about a battle between humans and fairies, but I realized that it wasn't just humans and fairies that were fighting each other, even though there was conflict within the fairies as well. I thought this work clearly and clearly depicts that if each person clashes without listening to their individual personalities and ideas, it will lead to a fight.
But that's true in any world, any culture, any community, and this work only depicts it with fairies and humans. That's exactly why the conflict between Xiaohei and Ruye was born out of differences in ideas and discommunication. No matter what kind of race we are, we have different environments and thoughts, so unless we work together, we will clash. That's why I felt throughout the event that it is important to understand each other.
–That's exactly what I think. Finally, what kind of people do you want to see this work?
Yuuki:I really think it's an interesting piece for anyone to watch. I think the great thing about this work is that it is a work that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and genders. Of course, it's more fun to watch if you've watched a lot of different anime, and it's made so that even people who don't usually watch anime can enjoy it. What's more, the visuals and worldview are carefully crafted so that the deeper you dig, the more interesting it becomes, so there are no gaps. That's why I want everyone to watch it, and I think you can enjoy it even if you don't know the previous work! Of course, it's more fun to watch.
──I felt like I left the theater feeling stronger after watching a kung fu movie (lol).
Yuuki:I kind of understand! I always wonder what my abilities would be like if I were a fairy (lol). The action scenes were so amazing.
──Everyone uses their nasty abilities.
Yuuki:Xiaohei's ability to manipulate space is amazing, and so is Lu Ye's ability to manipulate space. The action is incredibly fast, and even though they look like humans, when the fairies start fighting, you feel like they're not humans! But Mugen, who surpasses even that, is a human being… (lol). After all, this version of Mugen is interesting.
