Junichi Toki 2nd full album “JUMBLE!!” release commemorative interview | Isekai2nd

Junichi Toki will release his first full album “JUMBLE!!” in about 3 years since his 1st album “Good For” on Wednesday, November 19, 2025!

Containing 10 songs with a variety of fun and expressions, including unique songs by a talented team of writers such as Onoshi (24chocolate), Hige Driver, and Watari Sawabe of Skirt, and a rearranged version of the opening song “Another Birthday” for the TV anime “The Seventh Loop, the Villainous Lady Enjoys the Life of a Free-spirited Married Woman in a Former Enemy Country”, this album is as “messy'' as the title suggests.

We conducted an interview with Toki in conjunction with the album release! They talked about the concept of “JUMBLE!!”, the highlights of the songs included, and their enthusiasm for the live concerts to be held in February and March 2026.

An album full of things you want to do that can serve as a business card.

──This is your first album in about 3 years, what were your thoughts when making it?

Mr. Junichi Toki (hereinafter referred to as Toki):It's not because it's been 3 years since I've released an album, but every time I make an album or mini-album, I think, “I wish I could update what I've done so far.'' I personally don't know if anything has changed over the past three years, but I'm the type of person who gets excited when the staff around me, the voice actors I co-star with, and the fans say, “This has changed, hasn't it?'' I'm sure there have been some changes since my first full-length album “Good For” released three years ago, but rather than me putting it into words, I'd rather listen to the impressions of everyone who continues to listen to my music and come to my shows after listening to this album (lol).

Daisuke Ono, who I co-starred with in “Ore Summer (Ore Para PRESENTS ORE!! SUMMER 2020 Blu-ray DAY1)”, said to me, “Toki-kun's facial expressions change completely with each song,” so the direction was decided a bit, and what I receive from people is very important to me, so I can't wait to hear many impressions and favorite songs from people who listen to “JUMBLE!!”. I want to use that as my nutrition and step up again.

──Did you face any challenges in producing this album?

Toki:In the case of the mini-album “Another Birthday,'' the title song was a tie-up, and I asked mido and Yuya Hirosawa from HANO, who were new to me, to compose the song, and I was particular about singing in a different way than usual. It was my first attempt to create something by gradually combining the image of mido's music and my image.

The anime song cover album that I released after that called “Log.” borrowed songs from my seniors, but I set out the theme that I needed to sublimate my singing style to something that wasn't just karaoke or impersonation. On top of that, I followed the way my seniors expressed themselves and made sure to not forget the feeling of respect.

Since this album came after those two albums, it also had the meaning of measuring my current progress based on what I had learned from meeting new writers and what I had learned from my great predecessors. Also, with my previous albums, I've created two sides, like the analog records I like, with an A-side that's catchy and has an easy-to-understand theme, and a B-side that doesn't have to be the title song but is something I'd like to try, but this time I thought of a total of 10 songs, and packed in a lot of what I wanted to do. Since my debut with “Yakusoku no Overture” in 2019, I have entered my 6th year as an artist, and this album contains everything I wanted to do and what I can do now, so if I were asked what to listen to first to get to know “Artist Junichi Toki,” I would be able to recommend this album with confidence.I think it has become a business card.

By the way, in the anime/voice acting world, I'm famous as a voice actor who loves toys and a voice actor who likes a lot of things…I don't know what to say, though (lol). People around me often say, “You have a lot of hobbies,'' but I think that's because you don't have to eat or dislike anything, you just have to experience it first, and because you quickly start to like a lot of things, the result is a “messy'' CD, as the title suggests (lol). It's the result of each of my “likes” expanding independently in all directions and pushing forward, so I'd be happy if everyone could find even one song that “likes them.”

A collection of songs that highlight the individuality of each creator, resulting in an album that is as “jumble” as the title suggests.

──Please introduce the concept and sound of the title song, the contents of the lyrics, what you were conscious of when recording it, and your favorite phrases.

Toki:We didn't order the songs after deciding on the concept and title of the album, but 60 to 70% of the songs were newly recorded, and before we started recording, I listened to the preliminary songs with my manager and said, “It doesn't feel unified at all (lol).''

–When ordering new songs, did Mr. Toki give you any orders for the concept or melody of each song?

Toki:Some of the songs were ordered by me, and some were ordered by producers and directors. The way I create the songs I sing is by consulting with everyone and coming up with ideas before finalizing them, and that was the case this time as well.

For example, “Radio program (“Time with When I was thinking about what song I would like to include, for example, “I want a new theme song for “You'''', I would say things like “I don't have a song that makes me wave towels live, so I'd like something like that.'' The team members made various suggestions, such as “How about we include something that's popular these days?'' or “How about a song that has this kind of atmosphere?'' As a result of everyone coming up with ideas, this time we ended up with a jumble of ideas.

“There's no concept this time,'' he said jokingly, and just like last year's release “Log.,'' the title was a one-word punch! I was wondering if I could express it. Then I searched for an English word for “meschamecha” or “mechamecha” and came across the word “JUMBLE.”

──The title has something in common with the fan club “TOY BOX” that was established this year.

Toki:I think that the favorite image lists and playlists not only in toy boxes but also on everyone's smartphones and PCs are often surprisingly cluttered. Even if it looks like a mess when you look at it from the outside, you can organize it internally because you have specific tags and set conditions and restrictions. There doesn't seem to be a sense of unity, and for that person there are policies and rules. I think that this album is linked to that, and I personally like it, saying, “It's a nice rich color.''

──What were you particular about when producing the album?

Toki:This album doesn't have a sense of unity, but there was actually a hidden concept. Up until now, when I had a new composer compose music, I had a vague theory that I would ask someone who has always worked with me to write the lyrics. RUCCA, who I often rely on at times like this, always writes wonderful lyrics and is my favorite lyricist.

As I reached the milestone of my 5th anniversary as an artist, I started thinking, “Maybe I can do something that has never been done before.'' I didn't have any particular preferences about the melody, but I just wanted to sing a song that wasn't my own. For example, the second song, “Order Maid Life,” was written by Tsumugishachi, and composed by Keiichi Osawa and Yumemi Kujira, all of whom are new to the song, but up until now, I think they would have asked RUCCA to write the lyrics. But whenever I sing with RUCCA-san's lyrics, I feel like the “Toki Junichi style'' comes out no matter what the song is. So this time, I made an order: “If there are people on the team who can write lyrics and compose, I want to give everything from 0 to 100 to them.'' “Zuratsuru Rhythm,” “Azalea,” and “Night Stranger” were all created in this way, but I asked them to do it in a way that would be easy for the creators to create and that would be 100% pure recommended songs.

As a result, as you can hear, the songs on the album have a “jumble'' feel to them. I think if I had asked RUCCA to write the lyrics, even though the melody and lyrics were different, they all came together somehow. It's nice to have that kind of comfort and security, but taking on this challenge gave me the thrill of not knowing what was going to happen, and the collection of songs exceeded my imagination.

When I thought about the order of the songs, I wanted to see what kind of story would come out if the team arranged the songs rather than me deciding, so I decided to leave it to them. However, “Bun Kai Sensation'' had a great affinity with the album title “JUMBLE!!'' and I thought it was suitable for the top batter, so I asked, “Can I put this song as the first song?''
