“Detective Conan” Ran Mouri's charm and must-see famous scenes | Isekai2nd

Detective Conan, a mystery manga drawn by Gosho Aoyama, has been serialized in Weekly Shonen Sunday since 1994. This is a very popular work about Shinichi Kudo, a high school detective whose body has been turned into an infant by a black-clad organization. He hides his true identity and calls himself “Conan Edogawa,'' and solves numerous cases while investigating the organization's movements.

Ran Mori, Shinichi's childhood friend, is the kind and strong heroine of this work. While treating Conan like an older sister, she continues to eagerly wait for Shinichi's return, having vowed to return. After Shinichi confesses his feelings in London, Ran replies at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto, and the two finally become lovers.

Voice actress Wakana Yamazaki, who played the role of Ran Mouri for about 30 years since the TV anime series began broadcasting in 1996, passed away on April 18, 2026. Ms. Yamazaki's clear voice overflows with the beauty, strength, kindness, and cuteness that resides within Ran, and has delivered a lot of love and emotion to us viewers so far.

Additionally, voice actress Akemi Okamura, who served as a substitute in the TV anime series, will continue to voice Ran. The orchids that Mr. Yamazaki has carefully nurtured have been passed down to Mr. Okamura.

In this article, I would like to revisit the charm of Ran Mori, who has been loved by fans for many years. We have put together a list of famous scenes filled with Ran's charm, so please take a look at them carefully.

*This article contains spoilers for Detective Conan.

Ran Mouri's profile & charm

Childhood friend and lover of Shinichi Kudo

The heroine of this work, Ran Mouri. Teitan High School 2nd year Class B. Shinichi's childhood friend and lover. Her father, Kogoro Mouri, who is a detective, and her mother, Eri Hime, who is a lawyer, are separated, so she lives with her father and treats Conan, a freeloader, like an older sister. He is a reliable person who is good at cooking and is a member of the karate club. He is a talented karate player who has won big tournaments.

Ran's kindness and strength as she always cares for others.

A kind Ran who never forgets to be considerate of others no matter the situation. She has a very adorable smile and a bright and honest personality. She patiently waits for Shinichi's return, holding her thoughts close to her heart, and sometimes tears of loneliness and sadness. There was a time when I had suspicions that “Conan = Shinichi”.

Even if she is in danger, Ran's body moves before she thinks, and she will reach out to anyone, not just her family and friends. Her faith may even save someone's heart. For Vermouth, who was saved by an orchid, the orchid is an “angel” and a treasure.

He is best friends with his childhood friend Sonoko Suzuki, and their bond has been depicted throughout. Sonoko has been watching over Shinichi and Ran closer than anyone else. Masumi Sera, who has transferred to Ran's class, also loves Ran and is always worried when something happens to her.

In addition, Ai Haibara also sees the kind Ran, who cares for her and tries to protect her, as her own older sister. Ran is friendly towards the Detective Boys and is loved by them as well.

I hope that my parents who are separated will reconcile, and I will do my best to support Sonoko, Kazuha Toyama, and other friends in their love lives! The people around me know how good orchids are, and they all love them.

Ran Mouri's famous scenes collection

We have collected famous scenes filled with Ran Mouri's charm. We will carefully select from among the many scenes that overflow with her kindness, strength, and cuteness. No matter how many times you watch it, Ran's words and actions will resonate with your heart.

Rescue Sonoko by breaking the window of a moving car

Episodes 153-154 “Sonoko’s Abnormal Summer Story” (Comic Volume 22)

The first appearance of Makoto Kyogoku, who later becomes Sonoko's lover. Sonoko, who is looking for a good man, goes to Izu with Conan and Ran. The man who calls out to her is all about Ran, but Sonoko, who is playing on the beach, is invited by a man.

However, an incident occurs in which Sonoko is attacked at an inn. Later, Sonoko goes out to a restaurant and is once again in danger. A parked car with a sleeping Sonoko inside starts moving, and Conan and Ran desperately chase after it. Just as the car is about to fall down a cliff, Ran kicks through the window and rescues Sonoko. Ran's strong physical ability also shined through as she moved with a single-minded desire to help her best friend.

A suspicious man appears around her, and Sonoko is in danger of being stabbed with a knife. The one who saved Sonoko in the nick of time was Makoto Kyogoku, also known as the “Kicking Prince''.

Provides Ran's blood to seriously injured Conan & spends a short time with Shinichi

Episodes 188-193 “Riskful Resurrection” (Cave Detectives/Injured Great Detective/Third Choice/Knight in Black/Shinichi Returns…/The Promised Place) (Comic Volumes 25 and 26)

Conan was shot and seriously injured, but thanks to Ran's blood transfusion, the surgery was successful. Ran asked Conan to use her blood and spent the night caring for Conan. Shinichi has the same blood type as Ran, but Ran doesn't know Conan's blood type. When Ran declares that she has the same blood type as Conan, Conan realizes that Ran has revealed his true identity.

Conan was wondering if he should tell the truth. I can't talk to the kind-hearted Ran, who takes on the burden of other people's hardships and cries as if it were her own. That being said, I don't have the confidence to deceive such a nervous Ran. However, if she speaks, Ran will also be targeted by the organization.

In order to reassure Ran, Shinichi regains his original body using a prototype antidote made by Haibara, and appears in Teitan High School's school festival play as a black-clad knight. After Shinichi solves the mystery of the murder case, Ran savors the momentary time she has with Shinichi.

Ran is invited to an observation restaurant by Shinichi, who says he has something important to talk about, but another murder occurs. Ran sends Shinichi, who is worried about the incident, saying, “Go quickly, detective?'' Shinichi promises to return soon and heads off to investigate. However, Shinichi does not return, and Conan conveys “Shinichi's words'' to Ran, who cries and says she doesn't want to hear any more excuses.

“Someday…someday, I'll definitely come back even if I die…I want Ran to wait for me until then…”

Later, at a pottery class, Ran makes a teacup and writes the words “Great Mystery Mystery'' on it, intending to give it to Shinichi. Conan finds a message at the bottom of the teacup that says, “I'll be waiting for you♡.'' (Episodes 228-229 “Murderous Ceramics Class” (Comic Volumes 30 and 31)

There is no logical thinking behind why people help others.

Episodes 286-288 “Shinichi Kudo NY Incident” (Incident Edition/Mystery Edition/Solution Edition) (Comic Volumes 34 and 35)

Ran collapses from a high fever at a Chinese restaurant, and is reminded of what happened a year ago amidst the sound of rain. This episode continues from episodes 284-285 “Chinatown Rainy Deja Vu” (volume 34 of the comic), but chronologically it is a continuation of episode 162 “Flying Secret Room: Shinichi Kudo's First Incident” (volume 21 of the comic).

After showing off their great mystery on a plane, Shinichi and Ran arrive safely in Los Angeles, and are taken to New York by Shinichi's mother, Yukiko Kudo, to see a musical. When Shinichi and Ran meet Yukiko's friend, actress Sharon Vineyard (Vermouth), and are touring behind the scenes, the armor on the ceiling falls and Ran saves the actress who was directly below.

Later, a murder occurred during the performance. Shinichi deduces the problem through Yukiko, known by her nickname “Night Baroness,'' and solves the problem, but the culprit is the person Ran helped. Ran is worried that the murder happened because she helped him.

That night, Ran encounters a passerby in an abandoned building, and immediately reaches out to help the passerby (Vermouth), who is about to fall down the emergency stairs, and Shinichi, who rushes over, also helps Ran. When Shinichi is asked why he helped him, he says, “Is there a reason? I don't know anything about people's motives for killing people, but… there's no logical thinking behind why people help others, right?'' Ran was moved by these words, and this was the moment when her feelings towards Shinichi changed somehow.

On the other hand, Vermouth, who denies the existence of God and has never had an angel smile at him, is moved by Shinichi and Ran's words and actions. She calls Ran “Angel”.

In this episode, Ran also encountered FBI agent Shuichi Akai. Later, when they met again, Akai reminded Ran of a woman who was “pretending to be calm and crying behind her back'' and said to her, “Are you crying again? You're always crying…''. (Episodes 309-311 “Contact with the Black Organization”)

“I want to be Sonoko’s best friend for the rest of my life!!”

Episodes 329-330 “Friendship that money can’t buy” (Comic volume 39)

A murder occurs among members of an outdoor club. Conan feels uncomfortable seeing their fake friendship with a woman who claims to be a young lady, and tells Haibara about Ran.

Ran once refused to go skiing with Sonoko, and when Shinichi asked why, she said she was depressed and said it was because money was tight this month. Shinichi suggests that Sonoko should just give him the money, but Ran firmly says, “That's absolutely not possible! I want to be Sonoko's best friend for the rest of my life.''

This is also a special episode where Ayumi, who had previously called Haibara “Haibara-san,” starts calling him “Ai-chan.”

Ran sacrifices himself to protect Haibara & Vermouth doesn't want to hurt the “Angel”

Episode 345 “Head-on battle with the Black Organization: Dual Mystery on a Full Moon Night” (Comic Volume 42)

In a critical situation where Conan and Haibara's true identities are revealed to Vermouth, an executive of a black-clad organization, Conan and FBI agent Jody confront Vermouth directly.

The night Kogoro and his friends go to an out-of-season Halloween party after receiving an invitation from a sender named “vermouth.” Jody takes Conan, who is disguised as Haibara, and sets a trap to capture Vermouth, but he is ensnared and Conan steps in to help.

When the real Haibara appears and Vermouth's evil hand approaches, Ran suddenly jumps out of the trunk of the car and protects Haibara from being targeted by a gun.

When Vermouth saw Ran, he desperately tried to stop his friend Calvados from firing, and was unable to shoot because the memory of being rescued in New York flashed through his mind. Haibara sees an image of her older sister in Ran, who trembles but never leaves her.

The reason why Ran's tears won't stop & what Ran wants to hear

Episodes 521-523 “Murderer, Shinichi Kudo” “Ran's tears over Shinichi's true identity” “Things I really want to hear” (Comic volumes 62 and 63)

Heiji receives a letter requesting to meet and talk about a mystery mistake in a murder case that Shinichi Kudo solved a year ago, and the group heads to Higashiokuho Village, where the crime occurred. Conan, who is sick with a cold, unintentionally returns to his normal form after drinking a prototype antidote that he mistakes for cold medicine.

When Heiji and his friends are looking for Conan, worried that he hasn't returned, they hear that a naked young man has been found in the lake. Surprisingly, the person appears to be Shinichi, who has lost his memory and has no idea who he is.

Ran felt uncomfortable with Shinichi when they met again. Ran is unmoved by the amnesiac Shinichi, but when a person dressed as a mountain god/Shirashin appears, she can't stop crying. He was the real Shinichi, the person Ran had been waiting for.

After solving the incident in the village, the group returns to Tokyo, but Shinichi and Ran have things they want to ask and say to each other, but they can't bring themselves to ask each other. Then, they come across a murder case while driving, and as Shinichi and Heiji solve the mystery of the case, the time limit for the medicine is getting closer and closer.

Even though I held his hand, determined never to let go, Shinichi kept walking away again… Shinichi senses Ran's feelings and tells her that he feels the same way and asks her to wait. This episode continues at the beginning of episode 524, “The Blue Spark of Hatred” (Part 1), so please continue watching.

Even after Ran was put to sleep by a tranquilizer gun and Shinichi returned to his Conan form, Ran continued to hold onto his hand without letting go. Conan seems to have kept Ran's hand by cutting off the sleeves of his sweater and changing his clothes.

“If you're a detective, you should deduce something about my heart!”

Episodes 616-621 “Holmes' Apocalypse” (The Detective's Apprentice/Love is 0/Satan/Code break/Queen of the Lawn/0 is Start) (Comic Volumes 71 and 72)

An important episode that is essential when talking about the relationship between Shinichi and Ran. Conan, who doesn't have a passport, receives an antidote from Haibara for leaving the country and returning home, and heads to London with Ran and the others.

While solving the code that foretells a mass murder, Ran hears Big Ben's bell ringing during the phone call and is convinced that Shinichi is coming to London. Cornered, Conan takes a drug and temporarily returns to his normal form.

Even when they meet again, Ran is overwhelmed with emotion because Shinichi doesn't understand her feelings at all. “You're a detective, aren't you? If you're a detective, you should deduce something about my heart!'' Shinichi runs after Ran, crying.

Shinichi confessed his feelings for Ran in front of Big Ben, saying, “Ome is a complicated and difficult case! There are so many unnecessary emotions involved that even I, Holmes, can't solve it! There's no way I can accurately read the heart of the woman I like!''

“Shinichi won't let anyone die! Absolutely!!”

Episodes 648-650 “Detective Office Cage Incident” (Outbreak/Sniping/Release) (Comic Volumes 73 and 74)

A barricading incident occurs at the Mori Detective Agency by a man in possession of a handgun and a bomb. The man's request was to hear one of the three female mystery writers' best guesses in order to find the culprit who killed his sister.

Conan, who is at Dr. Agasa's house, senses the situation at the office over the phone, and as Shinichi Kudo, solves the mystery of the case as requested by the man. Sera tries to guide the police to shoot the barricaded criminals, but Ran closes the curtains and prevents the shooting. “Shinichi won't let anyone die! Absolutely!!'' he declares. Both Shinichi and Ran share the same belief that they will not let anyone die, even if they are the culprit.

The encounter between Shinichi and Ran, Ran's smile that shocked Shinichi

Episodes 853-854 “Sakura-gumi Memories” (Ran GIRL/Shinichi BOY) (Comic Volume 87)

The row of cherry blossom trees where Conan brought Ran, Sonoko, and Sera. Ran looks at the cherry blossoms and remembers the time when she met Shinichi.

13 years ago, when Shinichi entered the nursery school where Ran was. When Shinichi witnesses Ran losing her handmade badge to a boy, he cries and calls out to her as she makes her own badge, asking her to make one for him as well. Then, when a boy tries to exclude Ran from his group, he protects her by saying that his badge is also paper, so he is one of them.

Shinichi seems to have been impressed by Ran's smile ever since they met, but Ran initially hated Shinichi. However, after learning the true meaning of Shinichi's actions, he seems to have become my favorite childhood friend.

For episodes from Shinichi and Ran's childhood, we also recommend Episodes 472-473 “The Adventures of Shinichi Kudo” (Volume 55 of Comics) and Episodes 881-882 “The Wizard of Ripples” (Volume 92 of Comics)!

Confession response from Ran at Kiyomizu-dera Temple in Kyoto

Episodes 927-928 “Crimson School Trip” (Senkou edition/Koiku edition) (Comic volumes 94 and 95)

A must-see episode where Shinichi and Ran finally become lovers. Conan receives an antidote from Haibara, temporarily reverts to Shinichi's form, and participates in a school trip to Kyoto.

Shinichi meets actress Kurachi Keiko, a friend of his mother Yukiko, at Kiyomizu Temple and is asked to decipher the code, but then a murder occurs. He cooperates with Hattori Heiji, who asked him to take his place when the medicine runs out, and Inspector Ayanokoji of the Kyoto Prefectural Police, and leads him to solve the case.

When Shinichi is jealous of Ran and Souji Okita from Kyoto Senshin High School's friendly behavior, Ran kisses Shinichi on the cheek and confesses his feelings in return, and the two finally become lovers…!

In response to Shinichi's thank you email, Ran confirmed, “Isn't it okay that we're dating?'' Shinichi replied, “I'm sure we're dating, right?'' with “Barro'' in the subject line. Ran was smiling happily as she read the email from Shinichi.

“Happy birthday, Shinichi…”

The first movie “Detective Conan: The Clockwork Skyscraper”

For both Shinichi and Ran, the lucky color for May is red. Ran had planned to celebrate Shinichi's birthday by watching the movie “Legend of the Red Thread'' together and giving him a present when the clock struck midnight.

Ran attends Teiji Moriya's party on behalf of Shinichi, and Moriya asks her about her relationship with Shinichi, and she also talks about Shinichi's birthday surprise. Afterwards, a mysterious person who claims to have planted the bomb challenges Shinichi, and Conan hunts down the culprit, Moritani, but it turns out that the last bomb was planted in the Beika City Building where Ran is.

Conan goes to help Ran, but since the entrance is blocked by an explosion, he calls out to Ran as Shinichi in front of the door where Ran is, and entrusts Ran with defusing the bomb. Ran follows Shinichi's voice and dismantles the bomb according to the blueprint, but the bomb's countdown does not stop and the last remaining codes are red and blue.

When midnight hits and there are less than three minutes left, Ran congratulates Shinichi, saying, “…Happy Birthday, Shinichi…” since she may not be able to say it anymore. Conan tells Ran through the door that he can cut the cord of her favorite color and that he will be by her side until the end.

Ran had told Moritani that red was a lucky color, so the red cord was a trap set by Moritani, but the cord Ran cut was blue. This was because Ran didn't want to cut the red thread.

“The red thread might be connected to Shinichi, right?”

Memories with Shinichi cause a miracle.

Fourth movie “Detective Conan: The Assassin in the Eyes”

If Ran wins the Karate City Tournament, he will take her to Tropical Land. True to their promise, the two enjoy their long-awaited date at the amusement park, and Shinichi presents Ran with a fantastic sight at the fountain plaza to please her. Ran talked about those memories over the phone and invited Shinichi to go again.

However, after getting involved in a certain incident, Ran suffers from amnesia and is unable to remember her family, friends, or even herself. Sonoko accompanies Ran and sheds tears, saying that even if her memories don't return, they'll be friends forever. Her parents also gently snuggle up to Ran.

The irreplaceable moment given by Shinichi was deeply engraved in Ran's heart, and she would stare at the photos from that time and react to the tropical land shown on TV. Even though Ran has no memories, she still has a kind heart, and there are scenes where she is saddened by the harm she causes to those around her because she is targeted by the criminal.

Even so, Conan continues to protect himself. When asked why he protects her, Conan, as Shinichi, tells him, “It's because I love you more than anyone else on this earth.” When Ran heard this, she responded with a smile and said, “Omase-san.” This line from Conan was the same as Kogoro's proposal to Eri.

At the moment when water spouts up in the fountain plaza, Ran's memories with Shinichi and the situation when she saw the crime overlap, and she quickly regains her memories and subdues the criminal with her specialty, karate. The scene where Ran remembers everything and calls her parents “mom'' and “dad'' as usual, and tells Sonoko “my lifelong friend,'' brings tears to my eyes.

“Detective Conan Episode “ONE” The Great Detective Who Got Shrunk,” “Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Incident” and “Episode “ZERO” Shinichi Kudo Aquarium Incident” are also recommended!

The important scene in the fountain plaza that is the key to “The Assassin in the Eyes” is newly depicted in “Detective Conan Episode “ONE”: The Small Detective.” Also, the story behind Shinichi and Ran's promise to go to Tropical Land is also told in “Kudo Shinichi Aquarium Incident'' and “Episode “ZERO” Kudo Shinichi Aquarium Incident.'' In order to apologize for ruining Ran's cell phone, Shinichi promised to buy her a replacement cell phone and a sea cucumber man strap.

To live and meet Shinichi

Fifth movie “Detective Conan: Countdown to Heaven”

Yoshiaki Hara, a programmer and executive director of the computer company TOKIWA, betrays the organization and infiltrates the organization's computers. Jin and Vodka are working behind the scenes to prevent information about the organization from leaking and eliminate the traitor.

Jin shoots Hara and erases his data. Furthermore, in order to blow up the main computer of “TOKIWA”, a bomb is planted in the newly built Twin Towers building in Nishitama City. Jin discovers that Sherry will be visiting the Twin Towers and plots to assassinate Sherry.

After a series of murders occur, Conan and Ran are stranded on the upper floors of a twin tower building due to a fire caused by an explosion, and are cut off from their escape route. As the flames approach, Ran wraps a fire hose around the two of them and decides to jump from the building.

While desperately trying to hold back her fear, Ran says, “Because Shinichi told me to wait,'' and “I have to stay alive and wait for Shinichi.'' Recognizing Ran's feelings, Conan, as Shinichi, tells her, “It's okay.”

“I'm sorry…I couldn't be with you until the end.” “Conan-kun…I believe in you.”

The 6th movie “Detective Conan: The Ghost of Baker Street”

A murder occurs at a presentation for the sensory simulation game Cocoon. The dying message points to the murderer Jack the Ripper, and Conan realizes that the key to solving the case lies within the game.

Cocoon is a game machine that allows you to experience historical events in the world of virtual reality. Immediately after the game starts, the cocoon is taken over by the artificial brain “Noah's Ark”. Noah's Ark, whose mission is to “reset Japan,” has declared that if none of the players can clear the game, they will destroy everyone's brains.

The virtual world chosen by Conan and his friends is 19th century London. It was a time when Jack the Ripper was active behind the scenes. Conan explores a mysterious world where the world of Sherlock Holmes, his favorite mystery novel, and historical facts intermingle, and there is also a scene where Ran, who sees Conan deep in thought, begins to resemble Shinichi.

As Conan and the participating boys help each other solve the cases, as the story progresses, one after another, they drop out. Ran, taken hostage, remembers Shinichi's words and decides to throw herself off the top of the train to take Jack with her. “I'm sorry…I couldn't be with you until the end.'' “Conan-kun…I believe in you,'' he says, entrusting Conan with the rest.

Avoid bullets when confronting Irish

The 13th movie “Detective Conan: The Black Chaser”

Serial murders occur all over the country, and detectives from the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department, Kanagawa Prefectural Police, Shizuoka Prefectural Police, Saitama Prefectural Police, Gunma Prefectural Police, and Nagano Prefectural Police gather together. Kogoro is also participating in the police investigation meeting, and Conan, who notices that members of the Black Organization have infiltrated the meeting, begins his own investigation.

Irish, a member of the organization, infiltrates the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department and executes a plan to retrieve the memory card containing the organization's NOC list. In the process, we uncover the truth about “Edogawa Conan = Kudo Shinichi.''

When Irish was trying to capture Conan, Ran came to help him and remembered Shinichi's words as Irish pointed a gun at him. The speed of a handgun is approximately 350 m/s, which is impossible with a rifle, but thinking that it is possible with a handgun, he brilliantly avoids the bullets and bravely confronts them empty-handed.

Confrontation with Pinga & Haibara: “It's okay now.”

The 26th movie “Detective Conan: The Black Iron Fish Shadow”

Set at Pacific Buoy, a marine facility used to connect security cameras owned by police forces around the world, the story unfolds in a desperate situation where the secret of “Shelly Haibara'' is revealed to a black-clad organization through an age recognition system. Pinga, a member of an organization with a feud with Jin, will appear.

The organization abducts Naomi Argento, an engineer who developed an old-young authentication system. Vodka and Pinga then set out to kidnap Haibara.

Conan notices that Haibara has been kidnapped and immediately chases after him, and Ran also jumps on Pinga and attacks in an attempt to get Haibara back. Ran injures Pinga's neck with a kick, but she manages to escape with Haibara.

Later, when Haibara safely escapes from the submarine and returns, Ran quickly covers her with a cloth on the boat and cries, saying, “I'm so glad Ai-chan is safe.'' Haibara was reminded of Ran's older sister as she wrapped her arms around him and said, “It's okay now.”

Orchid's words full of love

There are so many famous Ran scenes that I can't even introduce them here. Ran always gives us energy and courage through the original work, TV anime series, and movie version.

In the latest movie “Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway,” you can see the adorable Ran who admires Chihaya Hagiwara, also known as the “Goddess of the Wind.” In the spectacular scene where Ran comes to the rescue of Conan and Sera when they are in a critical situation, it makes me happy that Sera also loves Ran.

Ran's words are always filled with love, and every scene brings tears to my eyes. For me, orchids are always by my side. I would like to continue to watch over her relationship with Shinichi while wishing for Ran's happiness.
