The popular comic “My Hero Academia” by Kohei Horikoshi, which was serialized in “Weekly Shonen Jump” (published by Shueisha) for 10 years and finally concluded in August 2024, is also known as “Heroaka”. The final chapter of the TV anime series, “My Hero Academia FINAL SEASON'' (animation production: Bonds Film), will be broadcast on 29 Yomiuri TV and Nippon Television stations nationwide starting October 4, 2025, every Saturday at 5:30 pm (*excluding some areas).
The key to the final phase currently being broadcast is the “individuality” One for All (OFA). Nana Shimura, the 7th generation successor and All Might's master, is also the grandmother of Shigara Kisuke, Shimura Tenko, who became the worst enemy (villain) in history. The story's turning point began when Nana Shimura gave up her son, Akutaro, for foster care.
The official interview with Mie Sonozaki, the voice actress who played such an important character Nana Shimura, has arrived! Things she kept in mind while playing Nana Shimura, episodes during the dubbing, her thoughts on Hero Academia…she spoke many kind words.

Official interview with Mie Sonozaki, who plays Nana Shimura!
──What do you feel about the work “My Hero Academia” itself?
Sonozaki:What I feel as I continue to follow his work is that any human being can do something for someone, and that thinking about someone gives them strength. The “something'' that each person can do and the “strength'' of that “strength'' vary from person to person, whether big or small, and that is “individuality''. That always encourages me as an actor.
──Having played the role of Nana Shimura, the seventh generation of One For All (OFA), All Might's master, and the grandmother of the deceased Kosuke, how do you feel about her situation?
Sonozaki:Despite the unexpected events that befell her, her role as a mother, her role as a hero, and the choice she thought was best at that time, she was always worried and struggling behind the scenes. He felt this was a “weakness,'' and in order to remain strong, he never stopped smiling, saying, “Those who smile are the strongest.'' But that “weakness” is what makes us human, and our strength as a person. In such a terrible situation, it looks like a lotus blooming in the mud.

──Since his first appearance in the third season, there have been several depictions of his teacher-pupil relationship with All Might. How do you view the relationship between the two, who are bonded by a strong sense of trust?
Sonozaki:She is respected by All Might and Toshinori as her “master,” but I think she herself has grown even more by inheriting One for All and being with Toshinori. Not as a one-sided “teacher”, but as someone who can improve each other. I think we have a different relationship of trust than with my ally Gran Torino.
──In episode 131 of the 6th season, “Izuku Midoriya and Shigara Kisuke,'' he asks Izuku, “Are you prepared to stop him, even if it means killing him?'' and Izuku responds, “I still want to save that child,'' which left an impression on the contrast between him and Izuku. Could you tell me what you felt during the dubbing of that scene?
Sonozaki:No matter how hard he tried, he couldn't do anything, and he was responsible for the mismanagement of his family. When Izuku says that he still wants to save her, she not only feels the hope that he might be able to do it, but also his courage and strength as he tries to stand by her until the end. The glare and clenched fist made my heart tremble as I was reminded of my past choices and my own weakness and worthlessness, but I also wondered, “For what purpose am I clenching my fist?'' and strongly felt that those feelings had been inherited.

──In the FINAL SEASON, in episode 164 “History's worst enemy
Sonozaki:Each and every episode in this series has a lot of weight to it, and the role of Shimura, who I play, is extremely important, and the pain of the emotions he deals with and the difficulty of expressing them are extremely important. To be honest, I have to confess that the dubbing for each episode was very tiring…
──In episode 166, “From Aizawa-kun,” I was impressed by the motherly figure of Koutarou Shimura and the expression on her face as she entrusted everything to Izuku Midoriya. Please tell us what you felt while recording this series of scenes, and what left an impression on you about the direction.
Sonozaki:Everything she can do now. Stopping the collapse may have also been the sublimation of his feelings for Koutarou and Tenkaku. When he jumps in, you can see Shimura's determination in the way he lifts the corners of his mouth with both hands, and the way he conveys with just his gaze that he entrusts everything to Izuku will take your breath away.

── “My Hero Academia” will be a climax battle with All for One. What would you say to the hero cast, including Daiki Yamashita, who plays Izuku Midoriya?
Sonozaki:Mr. Yamashita and Mr. Miyake were often in the same dubbing time, and although they appeared here and there, they had been together for a long time, and their warmth, kindness, and cheerfulness were just like the heroes they played. The final battle with All For One…please, I'll leave it to you!
──Please give a message to your fans and viewers.
Sonozaki:The climax is finally here. Please support us as we connect our many thoughts so that we can laugh about tomorrow together. Plus Ultra!

story
A world in which humans have supernatural abilities and “individuality'' as a matter of course. Izuku Midoriya, also known as “Deku,” a boy with no “quirk” who met his favorite No. 1 hero, All Might, discovered the qualities of a hero hidden within him, and inherited the “quirk” One for All (OFA) from All Might.
Deku enters Yuuei High School, a prestigious school that produces heroes, and aims to become a “hero” who can save society and people with his “individuality” and grows together with his classmates in Class 1A of the hero department.
Spring of Deku's second year of heroics. The final battle between Deku and other heroes and the villains led by Kosuke and All for One is about to begin, and fierce battles take place across Japan.
The fate of Shoto Todoroki, Endeavor, Dabi = Touya Todoroki and the Todoroki family, and the confrontation between Ochako and Toga have come to an end. Finally, Deku, who has fully unleashed his “individuality”, One for All, and Shigaraki, who has fully awakened by taking in the consciousness of All for One, which tried to take over him. All For One, who has regained his heyday's power through rejuvenation, and Armored All Might, who wears a powered suit despite being “quirkless.” Their battle is coming to a conclusion!
Will Deku's “story of how we became the best heroes” be accomplished in the finale, or will everything fall apart…!?
