The anime production team My Status as an Assassin Obviously Exceeds the Hero'sbased on the light novels of Matsuri Akaipresented this Sunday a new trailer on the occasion of the Black Cat Day. The video is dedicated to Yoruthe mysterious cat that accompanies the protagonist.

The series is scheduled to premiere in October 2025 through TV Tokyo, BS Fuji, Animax and other Japanese channels. In parallel, Crunchyroll confirmed that it will broadcast the anime simultaneously throughout the world, except Asia.

Production team behind the project

The anime is directed by Nobuyoshi Habara (Fafner, Space Battleship Yamato 2202) under the production of Sunrise. The scripts are by Kunihiko Okadawhile Hirona Okada and Kaori Saito They are in charge of character design. Besides, Masahiro Yamane design the monsters, Mitsuru Ishihara serves as main animator and Satoshi Igarashi composes the soundtrack.

The opening theme, titled “Issen” (Flash of Light)will be performed by the virtual duo VESPERBELL.

A revenge story in a fantasy world

The plot follows Akira Odaa reserved student who, along with his class, is transported to a fantasy world. While his peers receive heroic roles, he gets the kind of killergiving him skills and stats well above average. With the help of the elven medium AmeliaAkira will discover dark secrets of the kingdom and confront the very king who summoned him, thus unleashing a story of revenge and resistance.

Going from web novel to animated adaptation

Matsuri Akai He began publishing the work in 2017 on the platform Shōsetsuka ni Naro. Later, the publisher OVERLAP released the first physical volume with illustrations of Tozai in November of that same year, reaching the fourth volume in February 2021.

The manga adaptation, by Hiroyuki Aigamodebuted in 2018 in Comic Gardo. After a pause in 2020 due to the author's health, serialization resumed in 2022. Currently, the publisher Seven Seas Entertainment publishes both the light novel and the manga in the West, and plans to release the sixth compilation volume on November 25.
