The anticipated third season of One Punch Man It already generates debate even before its premiere. The new director, Shinpei Nagaihas been very active on social networks answering questions and concerns from fans. However, in one of his recent messages he made it clear that this new installment will not surpass what many consider the masterpiece of the franchise: the first season.
The director's words
In response to a fan, Nagai was direct: “The third season will probably not surpass the first, but the anime will carry with it the persistence and creativity of its creators. I come with the determination to assume this responsibility, although I know that not everyone will be satisfied.”
The director recognized the differences in resources compared to other productions backed by large corporations, but reaffirmed his commitment to JC Staffstudio in charge of animation: “I want to support JC Staff, who strive to improve working conditions and nurture their own team.”
The sincerity that divides opinions
Nagai's statements were met with some understanding from the community. Many users responded with messages of support such as: “He's a great guy, I respect him,” or “as long as it's better than season 2, it's fine.” However, not everything was positive: some Internet users took the opportunity to launch personal attacks, questioning his previous career in anime productions for adults.

The problem of harassment on networks
Nagai himself publicly called for an end to malicious criticism and online harassment, recalling that there are questions he cannot answer due to confidentiality contracts. An extreme case was that of a user who insulted him, calling him a “hentai gooner” and accusing him of ruining the series. After several hate messages, he even boasted of having been blocked by the director.
A huge challenge ahead
With these statements, it is clear that the third season of One Punch Man will bear the difficult task of overcoming the disappointment of the second and approaching, at least, the quality of the first. Although Nagai does not promise miracles, he does suggest an honest effort and a desire to vindicate the franchise in the hands of JC Staff.
