Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc continues to dominate the box office in Japan


the movie Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc continues its success in Japanese cinemas after surpassing 7.17 billion yen (approximately 47.8 million dollars) in collection to the 38 days of its premiere, according to data from Kogyo Tsushinsha. The film has been seen by more than 4.69 million people and maintains constant growth in 421 rooms where it is currently projected.

Compared to the previous week, revenue increased by 670 million yen (some 4.47 million dollars), confirming its commercial solidity. Along with the announcement, a new visual showing an intimate scene between Denji and Prayin addition to the fourth bonus cinema: one Reze visual card which will be available from November 1.

An upward journey at the box office

Since its premiere September 19the film has maintained outstanding performance. Its collection has followed the following evolution:

  • Day 1: 420 million yen and 272,000 attendees.
  • Day 3: 1.25 billion yen ($8.34 million).
  • Day 10: 2.9 billion yen ($19.3 million).
  • Day 24: 5.4 billion yen ($36 million).
  • Day 31: 6.5 billion yen ($43.3 million).
  • Day 38: 7.17 billion yen ($47.8 million).

The distributor toho had originally projected a goal of 5 billion yen throughout the entire exhibition, a figure that production far exceeded in less than a month.

About the movie

Chainsaw Man: Reze Arc continues the story directly after the ending of the television anime. The plot follows Denjia young demon hunter who lives with his partner Pochitauntil he meets the mysterious Praywho changes the course of his life. Based on the manga Tatsuki Fujimotoserialized in Weekly Shonen Jump Since 2018, the story combines action, drama and symbolism in a tale of power and vulnerability.

The original manga exceeds 30 million copies in circulation and has inspired an animated adaptation, a play and now this film that consolidates Chainsaw Man as one of the most successful franchises in recent years.
