This week, the official “Diablo Immortal” YouTube channel released a teaser trailer that left many jaw-dropping: a collaboration with none other than “Berserk”, the brutal and beloved manga and anime franchise created by Kentarou Miura. In the video, which lasts about 30 seconds, a “Diablo” Barbarian with the sacrifice mark engraved on his neck is seen fighting against tons of monsters using the Berserker armor and the famous Dragon Slayer, as if he were Guts himself.

Although the idea of uniting these two dark worlds — the hellish universe of “Diablo” and the brutal world of “Berserk” — seemed like a dream come true, the initial excitement quickly turned into annoyance. Blizzard confirmed that the collaboration will be with “Diablo IV” and “Diablo Immortal”, and that was where many fans raised their eyebrows.
The problem? Both games are among the most criticized of the entire franchise. On the one hand, “Diablo IV” has been heavily questioned for its lack of real content, questionable design decisions and an approach that many consider disappointing. On the other hand, “Diablo Immortal”, since its launch in 2022, has been tainted by its aggressive microtransaction model, becoming synonymous with “pay-to-win” for many players.
Despite the criticism, the teaser made it clear that at least there will be very faithful visual references to the manga, and that keeps expectations high among some players. No specific details have been revealed yet, but Blizzard is expected to share more information in the coming days. The “Diablo” franchise was born in 1996 and has become one of the pillars of the ARPG genre, with millions of players around the world. The most recent expansion, “Diablo IV: Vessel of Hatred,” arrived on October 7 on consoles and PC.
A collaboration with “Berserk” could have been legendary, but the context in which it arrives leaves a lot to be desired. Now it remains to be seen if Blizzard manages to redeem itself and offer content that really lives up to the work of Kentarou Miura.
