The creator of Kirby and Super Smash Bros will have his own biographical manga


The renowned developer Masahiro Sakuraicreator of emblematic franchises such as kirby and Super Smash Bros.will be the protagonist of his own biographical manga, which will be published in Japan on November 18, 2025. The project will be directly supervised by Sakurai himself and will offer a detailed look at his career within the video game industry.

The manga will have the title Learn About People and Work Through Manga: Masahiro Sakurai – Making the World More Fun with Games and will be published by EastPress. You will have a total of 160 pages and will be available in both physical and digital formats, with a price of 1,430 yen (about 9 US dollars). Pre-sales are now open on Amazon Japan and Rakuten Books.

The work will cover Sakurai's childhood and his first approaches to the world of video games, until the creation of Kirby of the Stars and the development of the phenomenon Super Smash Bros.. In addition, it will include unpublished anecdotes about his creative process, the origins of his studio Sora Ltd. and its influence on modern video game design.

The manga will be divided into six main chapters, in addition to an epilogue edited by Sakurai himself:

In addition to its biographical narrative, the book will include columns written by experts in the Japanese video game industry, as well as a timeline with the most important milestones in Sakurai's career.

At the moment, the publication has not confirmed an international release date, although it is expected that its digital edition will facilitate its reach to readers outside of Japan.
