Season 2 of the anime “Wandering Food in a Different World with Outrageous Skills” (original story: Ren Eguchi, original character design: Miyabi), in which Mukoda, an ordinary office worker who is summoned to a different world, serves his special dishes and goes on an adventure journey with magical beasts as his companions, is now being aired!
In episode 18, which was aired the other day, Mucoda's strongest party, which included his servants Fel and Sui and the dragon Dora-chan, successfully conquered an impregnable dungeon. Mukoda, who wanted to cure the illness of the mother of Daryl and Iris whom he met in the forest, asks Sui to make a panacea using the blood and gall of the earth dragon he previously defeated. The mother handed the finished medicine and food to her siblings, who took the medicine and immediately recovered.
Where will Mukoda and his friends travel from episode 19? As season 2 is nearing its halfway point, we held a roundtable discussion with the Mukoda group, including Yuma Uchida, who plays the main character Mukoda, Satoshi Hino, who plays Fel, the legendary demon beast “Fenrir,” and Ayumu Murase, who played the pixie dragon Dora-chan, who joined the show in season 2!
They had a fun chat about Dora-chan from Mr. Uchida and Mr. Hino's perspective, and their impressions of Mukoda, Fel, and Sui from Mr. Murase's perspective, the behind-the-scenes stories of the recording, and the highlights of the second half of season 2.
After watching season 1, I realized the importance of delicious eating scenes.
— Mr. Uchida looked back on the previous series in an interview before the broadcast of Season 2, so please tell us about the memorable scenes that Mr. Hino acted in Season 1 and what was your favorite dish.
Mr. Satoshi Hino (hereinafter referred to as Hino) who plays the role of Fel:It looks like Mucoda's hard work when he went to the dungeon inhabited by a group of kobolds in episode 6 (“Growth comes suddenly”).
Yuma Uchida (hereinafter referred to as Uchida) who plays Mukoda:He certainly worked very hard.
Hino:Personally, I really enjoyed how Sui (CV. Hina Kino)'s strength was portrayed. Mukoda is fighting the Kobold Kings, struggling to do his best, and Fel is like a teacher, encouraging him by telling him to go, “Go!'' and “That's what you're up to.'' I also liked the contrast between the two characters.
The dish that left a deep impression on me was the Red Boar Steak Bowl (which appeared in the second episode).
Ayumu Murase (hereinafter referred to as Murase) who plays Dora-chan:ah!
Uchida:surely!
Hino:During the recording, there was a realistic video of the meat being cooked, and when I saw the finished animation, I was really struck by the sizzle of the meat (an expression that stimulates the five senses and whets the appetite). It was so impressive to me that it had a sense of realism and realism, so much so that in my mind, it was no longer “tasty” but “delicious.”

–I heard that this is your first recording in about 3 years. Mr. Uchida said that it wasn't particularly difficult, but what did you think of Mr. Hino?
Hino:It wasn't particularly difficult, but the joy of being able to come back was even stronger. Also, Season 1 was recorded in a distributed manner, with people who often interacted with each other and recorded in separate periods, but this time we were all able to record together, so we were all able to share our passion and joy for food, and I think we were able to channel that energy into the film. That's why I am recording it thinking that it will be more powerful and fun than in season 1.

――Mr. Murase, who has been participating since season 2, please tell us your impressions of the anime “Demondemo Skills Wandering Meshi in Another World''.
Murase:The animation makes the food look even more delicious, and I feel like the addition of our voices and sounds makes it more realistic. Even in the acting, for example, when eating hot food, the mouth smiles, and when eating cold food, the corners of the mouth tighten, and I think that by paying attention to the small details, the animation becomes more colorful. This is a work that has been made with great care down to the smallest details.
Also, the dubbing included footage of the food being actually made, so I looked forward to watching it every time (lol). The expressions on the faces of the staff members who were actually eating the food made it look like it was delicious. I felt that everyone involved in this work was having fun making it, and I felt that they wanted to convey the joy of eating and cooking.

――Mr. Murase has been participating since Season 2 as Dora-chan. Please tell us your impressions after watching season 1 of the anime and your impressions after being on set.
Murase:Before going into the dubbing scene, I watched the first season of the comic and anime. While I was eating a snack, I thought it would make me feel sad (lol). The scenes of eating food were played with so much emotion and deliciousness that I felt that this was an important part of the production. There was a relaxed atmosphere on set, and there was a good atmosphere in the group centered around the male horses, so I was allowed to join as Dora-chan.
Uchida:good.
Murase:Dora-chan herself was sitting on Uncle Fer's shoulder for a bit, giving off the feeling that she was just with everyone else, so I naturally included her and had fun doing it. One of the reasons may be that many of the cast members are acquaintances.
Hino:nice to meet you!
Murase:Please stop! It's been about 12 years since we met! (lol)
Hino:I didn't know who would play the role of Dora-chan, so I was happy when I saw Ayumu's name on the cover.
Uchida:We also learned about the role of Dora-chan after receiving the script. In the first episode of season 2 (episode 13), I recorded it by myself in a separate booth while listening to everyone's voices, and when I heard Dora-chan's voice, I was shocked and shocked, thinking, “Ayu can make a voice like this!?''
Murase:happy!
“Dora-chan is cute, but on the inside she’s as wild as an older brother”!?
— Mr. Uchida and Mr. Hino were surprised by Mr. Murase's Dora-chan voice, right?
Hino:Ayumu also has a microwave, so you can make it even cuter, and when I was wondering where it would come from, it came up with a nice one.
Murase:There were about 3 auditions. First there was a tape audition, then we did it in the studio, and then there was another studio session. We talked with sound director Kisuke Koizumi and director Kiyoshi Matsuda on set about how we wanted Dora-chan to feel, and that's how it turned out. When we made the first tape, he seemed sweet and cute, but then someone told us, “Dora-chan is cute, but she's quite old, so on the inside she's like an older brother and has an outrageous feel to her.''
Hino:Well then, it's Uncle Dora.
Murase:(Clearly) No! Also, Dora-chan is 116 years old and Fer is over 1,000 years old, so isn't that what Grandpa is like?
Uchida:With the addition of Dora-chan, the bright atmosphere of the scene became even brighter and brighter.
Murase:It's true that up until now there has never been someone like someone in charge of liveliness.
Uchida:Fer is also a glutton, but…
Murase:I get excited when I'm eating, but usually it's because I'm an uncle. In a good way.
Hino:That can only be malicious! (lol)

――Mr. Murase, please tell us your impressions of the adventuring companions from your perspective. Let's start with Mukoda.
Murase:First of all, Mukhoda's monologue explaining the process of cooking for male horses is so good that it makes me hungry. When I watched the broadcast when it actually aired, everyone seemed to be enjoying the hamburger episode (“Bloody Horn Bull and Orc General's ground hamburger'' that appeared in episode 11), and I thought it was really good. I can feel the taste and aroma when I look at it.
Hino:The way male horses eat is real.
Murase:There was something that reached out to the viewers as well, as if they were doing it while feeling the warmth of the finished product. I felt it even more when I entered the scene. Also, even though Mucoda has amazing monsters under his control, he is modest and stubborn. That kind of fun came out naturally, and since I had read the comic first, I thought, “I see, this is what the character is going to be like!'' and it gave me a more three-dimensional feeling.
Uchida:I'm happy.
――Next, please tell us about Fell.
Murase:Uncle Fell is my favorite in this work. I like big, fluffy animals, so if possible, I'd like them to continue walking on four legs. It would be cool to become a muscular uncle in a human body, but…
Hino:I don't like that.
Murase:Uncle Fell has a strong and dignified character, but I feel like he wants me to pay attention to him a little.
Hino:That's because she's a former heroine.
Murase:But Uncle Fell and Mukoda feel like a couple.
Hino:Like the father and mother of the Showa era. “Have you eaten yet?”
Uchida:Mukhoda said, “Yes, yes, please wait” (lol).
Murase:He's good at handling things (lol). That kind of feeling comes out well, and Fell's deep, strong voice blends perfectly with Mucoda's soft feel, and I'm really impressed with how well he did it.

–Finally, please give us your impression of Sui, played by Hina Kino.
Murase:Sui-chan is cute and hands-off.
Hino:Fer also admitted defeat, saying, “It was my complete defeat'' (lol).
Murase:Kino-chan's first voice is really cute, but even though she's just saying what she's thinking, she'll suddenly say something surprising like, “Huh!?” But even when I listened to the lines, I didn't get the sense that they were aiming at anything, and I wondered, “How on earth is he doing that?”
Hino:My children like the range of Sui's voice and often imitate her, but it's a similar range. Perhaps Kino-chan is able to produce the natural and pure sound quality of a child.
Uchida:I see!
Murase:It's amazing to have a weapon that you can use before putting together a play.
Uchida:A single cry conveys purity. I was also able to naturally guess, “Is this what you want me to do?''
Murase:I can see that Mukoda has surpassed Dere Dere and becomes Dero Dero.
Hino:Every time I play, I get excited as Hino instead of as Fer. “I wish I had Sui-chan at home.''
Murase:I too wish I had a healthy and cute child like that.
Is there a threat to Daisuke Namikawa's performance as Elland?
–By the time this article is published, up to episode 18 has been aired, but please tell us your impressions and memorable scenes as you look back on it.
Murase:Since I joined in the middle of the project, I was given various clues such as how to record and things like “Everyone should eat deliciously'', but I was conscious of how Dora-chan herself would naturally blend in with the Mukodas. We also had the theme of trying to express the deliciousness that everyone thinks in a slightly different way. The way Fell eats, the way Sui-chan eats, and the way Mukoda tastes are different.
Dora-chan was hooked on the taste, but I said, “It's delicious. Hurry up and let me eat it!'' as if I were half drunk (lol). I wanted to do something different from the three people ahead of me.
What sticks out in my mind is the ion drink and ice cream that I drank in a desert-like place while conquering a dungeon in episode 17. It's refreshing to eat and drink something cold and go, “Wow! Ume!” In another world, there are no refrigerators, so even though you can cool things down with ice, I don't think there would be anything like ice cream. I think if you eat it in a hot desert, you'll be hit with an incredibly intense, spark-like deliciousness. I didn't want to experience that, but I wanted to experience the deliciousness.
Hino:What left an impression on me was that I felt very threatened by Elland, who loves Dora-chan so much (lol). Up until now, Mucoda's party has been very strong and quirky, but Mr. Namikawa (Daisuke) played such a strong character that I thought, “We might be eaten up.''
Murase:Mr. Namikawa continued to ad-lib even after the scene where he met Dora-chan was over.
Hino:The fun of Elland makes me laugh.
Another meal that left a deep impression on me was the Genghis Khan (Episode 14). “Genghis Khan has finally arrived!” I thought. On the day of this recording, I was in the mood to eat Genghis Khan, and I said to the male horse, “I want to go eat Genghis Khan.''
Murase:Wow! good!
Uchida:i want to eat!
Hino:I sometimes eat gyudon and oyakodon, but I don't eat Genghis Khan very often, do I? Even now, as we speak, I feel a strong desire to eat it.
Uchida:There is a famous Genghis Khan restaurant nearby (where I am currently interviewing).
Murase:Wow, I want to go!
Hino:After eating a lot, finish off with ice cream.
Uchida:Since entering season 2, I have been reunited with some familiar faces. The members of Iron Will, led by Werner (CV. Hiroki Higashichi), are eating deliciously again. It was the first time in three years since the first season was recorded, but it was fun because there was a connection that made me come back to the story.
Eating and drinking are also important in this work, and in the scene where he drinks hot soup, he actually drank water while acting, but I thought, “Is there something wrong with the sound?''
Hino:That was strange, wasn't it?
Uchida:I asked myself, “Isn't the sound a little hard?'' So I changed it to hot water and rerecorded it, and it turned out to be the sound of warm water.
Murase:Strange!
Uchida:When it's water, it feels hard and light, but when it's hot water, it gets a little heavier and makes a “chap” sound, which sounds like drinking soup. As this feeling progressed, I think it gradually became ingrained in me. I felt myself growing, and I was happy to be able to share the work with everyone on the other side of the booth, and to realize that there was good communication between the people on the other side of the booth.
It was amazing to see so many Fujiya products featured. I also like the story about the souvenirs in episode 19…I want to say it, but I can't say it yet! Even more so than in Season 1, we have created an “Another World Refill Theater'' after the main story ends, and as you can see when you watch the main story, we have a lot of companies participating. There are many delicious things packed into this anime, and they are expressed in a concentrated manner.
So no matter what episode I watch, the stories are about delicious food that will make you salivate, and the rest of the episodes will leave you hungry, so I'm just as excited as the viewers.

The positive influence of Dora-chan on Mukoda and the others will make them more lively and fun!
— Now that the number of Mukoda friends has increased, please tell us about the future highlights.
Murase:In season 2, new characters such as Dora-chan and Elland will appear, but the unique idyllic atmosphere of this work is wonderful, so I would like people of all ages to watch it. I think it's wonderful that he honestly depicts the positive feelings of eating food, such as “delicious,'' “happy,'' and “fun,'' no matter what country or era.
Dora-chan's active actions when Mukoda is cooking and in everyday life seem to have an effect on Mukoda, Uncle Fell, and Sui-chan as well. I think the essence of the work will remain the same, but it will become even more appealing from a new angle.
Hino:Food is an essential part of life, and eating delicious food alone makes you happy, but I think eating it with a group of people adds to the joy, fun, and excitement. This time, with the addition of Dora-chan, everyone is even more excited than in season 1, and the sight of them having fun eating is the highlight of this series, and I think that's the main point of this season.
Uchida:I think it's really a blessing to be able to travel with good friends and share the deliciousness of food with everyone, and I hope that by having that experience in the anime, it will make you feel like you should value eating even more. Season 2 reminds us that every meal is precious and enriches the soul, because everyone must eat a meal.
Also, Mucoda and his friends are already invincible due to the legendary monsters and extremely strong slimes, but now a dragon has joined them…
Murase:It's like, “Is it okay to make it this strong?”
Uchida:Mukhoda says he doesn't want to stand out too much, but if these three guys come together, they'll stand out because they're too strong, and there's no way they'll be left alone. There will be various troubles, so I'd be happy if you could look forward to those as well.
