Toei Animation revealed its new medium-term business plan titled “VISION2030”with which he seeks to achieve 200 billion yen (approximately 1.31 billion dollars) in sales and 50 billion yen in operating profits for the fiscal year ending in March 2031. The strategy aims at regional expansion in emerging markets, strengthening its intellectual properties and creating in-person experiences for fans through theme parks and international events.
With a compound annual growth rate of 17%the company aims to diversify its revenue within and outside Japan. The plan is structured in four pillars: “Studio”, “IP”, “Region” and “Customer Engagement”with a special focus on Asia and the Middle East. In this last region, Toei Animation will establish a base in Dubai and will participate in the construction of the first Dragon Ball theme parklocated within the entertainment city Qiddiya in Saudi Arabia.

International expansion and new fan experiences
The plan foresees that the International sales reach 120 billion yen (some 784 million dollars), representing 60% of the total by 2031. In addition, the company will invest 19 billion yen in initiatives of Customer Engagement over the next five years, including the opening of shops, shows and exhibitions inside and outside Japan. In Japanese territory, the number of theatrical presentations and thematic exhibitions will increase by 40%.
Investment in production and innovation
In terms of study and development, Toei Animation plans to expand its production network in Asia to increase its operational capacity by 50%.
