Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinite Castle becomes the highest-grossing Japanese film in history


Kimetsu no Yaiba: Infinite Castle continues to make history at the global box office. According to data from Box Office Mojo, the first installment of the trilogy, subtitled Akaza Sairaireached the 555 million dollars raised globally until September 21, making it the the highest grossing Japanese film of all time and in the highest-grossing anime in history.

An unprecedented global phenomenon

The film not only surpassed Spirited Awaywho for more than two decades maintained the throne with his 31.6 billion yen, but also entered the top 10 most viewed movies of 2025occupying the #9 position after displacing Marvel productions such as Fantastic Four: First Steps and Captain America: Brave New World.

In the United States, the film grossed 17.3 million dollars in its second weekend, remaining at the top of the North American box office. With it, became the first anime in history to lead for two consecutive weekends in the country. In Japan, the film has sold more than 23 million tickets for a total of 33 billion yen, which places it as the second highest grossing film in Japanonly behind Mugen Trainwhich maintains the mark with 40.7 billion yen.
