The Ichijinsha publisher confirmed that the light novel Though I Am an Inept Villainess (Futsutsuka na Akujo de wa Gozaimasu ga – Sugu Choso Torikae Den), written by Satsuki Nakamura with illustrations of YukiKanawill have an anime adaptation in 2026. The announcement came accompanied by a first trailer where both the main cast and part of the production team were revealed.
Confirmed cast
The trailer revealed the two protagonists who will lead the story:
- Manaka Iwami as Kou Reirin
- Natsumi Kawaida as Shu Keigetsu
A team with experience in romantic comedy
The animation will be in charge of Doga Koboa study recognized by titles such as New Game! and Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun. The address will be Mitsue Yamazakiwhile Yoshiko Nakamura will supervise the scripts. The character design will be in the hands of Ai Kikuchiwho already worked in Shikimori's Not Just a Cutie.

The light novel debuted in 2020 and quickly attracted public attention for its mix of romance, intrigue, and charismatic female characters. His manga adaptationillustrated by Ei Ohitsuji, is published in the magazine Monthly Comic Zero-Sum. Currently, the series has nine volumes of novel and eight compiled volumes of the mangawith international distribution by Seven Seas.
