During the Aniplex Online Fest the first details of the anime were revealed Oni no Hanayome (Bride of the Ogre), adaptation of the light novels of Kureha. The project presented a teaser, a new visual key and confirmed that its premiere will be in 2026.

Confirmed cast and staff
Among the most notable surprises is the announcement of the main cast: Saori Hayami will give voice to the protagonist Yuzu Shinonomewhile Yuichirō Umehara will play Reiya Kiryuin. The direction will be in charge of Kazuhito Ōmiya in the studio Colored Pencil Animation Japan. For its part, Yumi Kamakura will oversee the composition of the series, Hikari Tanaka will design the characters and Masaru Yokoyama will compose the music.
A literary phenomenon turned into anime
The universe of Oni no Hanayome was born in 2019 within the platform New! from Starts Publishing, where it won the grand prize in the First Novema! Character Short Story Contest. With illustrations by Yu Shiroyathe work already has six volumes published, the most recent in January 2025.
In addition, the story gave rise to a manga adaptation of Jun Togashipublished in the magazine Noicom since 2021. The manga has won first place in the Noicomi female comics category for two consecutive years (2022 and 2023) and already has seven volumes compilations.
A success that continues to grow
Altogether, the novel series and its manga adaptation exceed the 5.8 million copies in circulationconsolidating itself as a phenomenon within the supernatural romantic genre. With this animated adaptation, Oni no Hanayome aims to expand its international reach and become one of the most anticipated premieres of 2026.
