A Misanthrope Teaches a Class for Demi-HumansVTuber's first light novel series Kurusu Natsumewill have its long-awaited anime adaptation in January 2026. The announcement came from Kadokawawhich accompanied the news with a promotional teaser, a key image and the reveal of the main cast and staff.
Main cast
- Toshiki Masuda as Rei Hitoma, a teacher at Shiranui Private Academy, a school for demi-humans.
- Sora Amamiya as Kyōka Minazuki, a mermaid who wants to become human so she can dance.
- Saori Onishi as Isaki Ōgami, a wolf girl who wishes to be human to leave her “half-existence” behind.
- Maria Naganawa as Sui Usami, a rabbit girl who dreams of becoming human out of gratitude to the person who helped her in the past.
- Rui Tanabe as Tobari Haneda, a Mozu bird who wants to become human to play music.
Production team
The anime will be directed by Akira Iwanaga (Kingdom season 2, Arifureta) in the studio asread.. The script will be supervised by Katsuhiko Takayama (Baka and Test, Protocol: Rain) and the character design will be in charge of Maiko Okada (Mother of the Goddess' Bedroom).

From light novel to anime
The project is the first work of Kurusu Natsume and debuted as a light novel under the seal of Kadokawa. In addition, it has an adaptation to the manga made by Beninopublished in the magazine Shōnen Ace in 2022. This version ended on July 26, 2024, with its fourth volume scheduled for September 26.
