Kimetsu no Yaiba continues to sweep the Japanese box office. the new movie Kimetsu no Yaiba: Mugen Castlereleased on July 18, 2025, reached an impressive 314.2 billion yen in revenue after 52 days in theaters, with more than 22 million tickets sold. The film broke the record of reaching 300 billion the fastest in the history of Japanese cinema, even surpassing its predecessor, Mugen Train.
Distributive production Aniplex confirmed that the film reached 300 billion in just 46 days, breaking the record that Mugen Train achieved in 59 days. The growth did not stop there: 100 billion in just 8 days, 200 billion in 23 days and the 300 billion mark in less than a month and a half. Everything indicates that this first chapter of the “Mugen Castle” trilogy could reach and even surpass the historical record of 407.5 billion established by Mugen Train in 2020.
Through a statement, Aniplex expressed his gratitude: “We want to heartily thank every viewer who attended the movie theaters and also all the theater workers who made it possible for the film to reach the public.”

The Japanese box office podium
Currently, the historical ranking in Japan places Mugen Train in first place with 407.5 billion (2020), followed by Spirited Away with 316.8 billion (2001). Now, Mugen Castle occupies third position with 314.2 billion, about to displace Chihiro from second place.
The records he already broke
Since its release, the film had already set milestones: in just 3 days it grossed 55.2 billion yen, becoming the film with the best opening, best first day and best performance in a single day in the history of Japanese cinema.
