Tatsuki Fujimoto's one-shots before Chainsaw Man will have an anime


Before achieving world fame with Chainsaw Man and Fire Punchthe author Tatsuki Fujimoto published a series of oneshots that marked the beginning of his career. These stories, collected in the volumes Tatsuki Fujimoto Before Chainsaw Man 17-21 and 22-26will receive an animated adaptation under the title Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26.

Global premiere on Prime Video

The project will premiere exclusively in Amazon Prime Video he November 7 at 08:00 (Spain time)while in Japan it will be available from November 8. Each story will be helmed by different directors and studios, promising a varied and unique experience in animation styles.

Stories that will arrive in anime format

The eight stories that will be part of the anthology are:

  • A Couple Clucking Chickens Were Still Kickin' in the Schoolyard – ZEXCS study, with Kensho Ono in the cast.
  • Sasaki Stopped a Bullet – Lapin Track Studio, with Toshiki Kumagai and Chika Anzai.
  • Love is Blind – Also on Lapin Track, with Shun Horie and Junichi Suwabe.
  • Shikaku – GRAPH77 study, with Kana Hanazawa and Tomokazu Sugita.
  • Mermaid Rhapsody – Studio 100studio, directed by Tetsuaki Watanabe.
  • Woke-Up-as-a-Girl Syndrome – Production by Studio Kafka, with Yuki Sakakihara.
  • Nayuta of the Prophecy – Also under 100studio, with Hitomi Sasaki in the distribution.
  • Sisters – Production of PAWORKSwith Nakashima Rune and Tomo Nakai.

A glimpse into the future of the creator

These animated shorts offer a look at Fujimoto's first steps, where the elements that would lead him to global recognition were already glimpsed: Raw violence, irreverent humor and intense emotions. The collection will show everything from youth romances to alien invasions, through vampires and narrative experiments that anticipate the style that defines it today.

International availability

VIZ Media publishes in English the two compilation volumes of these stories, which will now reach an even wider audience with their anime adaptation. With eight different stories and six studies involved, Tatsuki Fujimoto 17-26 aims to become an essential release for fans of the author and lovers of experimental anime.
