The film Meikyu no Shiori sets its premiere for January 1, 2026


The legendary anime creator Shōji Kawamoriknown for franchises such as Macross and Aquarionrevealed a new trailer for his next film Meikyu no Shiori (Shiori of the Labyrinth). The trailer confirmed that the film will hit theaters in Japan on January 1, 2026inaugurating the new year with this ambitious animated project.

Takuto Teranishi debuts as a voice actor

One of the big surprises of the announcement was the incorporation of Takuto Teranishiboy band member timeleszwho will play Suguru Kagami. This character is a university student and innovative entrepreneur who investigates the direct connection between smartphones and the human brain, which gives it great international recognition.

Kawamori praised Teranishi's talent, noting: “I had already seen his work in theater and was impressed by the breadth of his performance. Suguru is a mysterious and ambitious man, a difficult role to play… but he managed to charmingly express the complex emotions of the character.”

Cast of new talents and production

Along with the announcement, the visual of Suguru Kagami's character was presented, as well as photographs of the actor in the recording booth with Suzukivocalist of ATARASHII GAKKO!who also makes his dubbing debut with this production.

The film is directed by Shōji Kawamori in the studio SANJIGEN (BanG Dream!). The character designs are in charge of Risa Ebata (Macross Frontier), while Taichi Hashimoto (Reviews) is in charge of the script.

History between the real and virtual world

The plot follows Shiori Maezawaan ordinary high school student whose life changes when her smartphone breaks and suddenly finds herself alone in an alternate world that replicates the city of Yokohama. When checking her device, she discovers photos posted on social networks in which she appears, but that she does not remember taking. From there, Shiori must discover who is behind those images and how to escape this disturbing digital labyrinth.
