The official anime page Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai (I Want You To Make a Disgusted Face and Show Me Your Underwear) announced a new series under the title Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai Ralso known as Returns. This project will commemorate the tenth anniversary from Shimahara's original work.
The news was revealed this Saturday, August 2 during the Japanese celebration of the “Underwear day”and comes along with confirmation of the return of the studio UWAN Pictures and the direction again in charge of Saya Fukase. Shimahara also returns as head of the original work and general supervisor.
A special exhibition will accompany the launch
As part of the celebrations, there will be a illustration exhibition in the Art Gallery Akihabara of Tokyo between the days August 22 and 31. Official products from the project will also be sold at the event.
Doujin phenomenon with more than 70,000 copies sold
This provocative anime debuted in 2018 with a 24-minute “first season”, initially presented at the event Comic Market 94 in August of that year. It was later distributed in Blu-ray format in a limited edition.
The second season, also 24 minutes divided into six episodes, arrived in December 2019 and was available both on Blu-ray and on the platform Niconico Channel since November.
The project has exceeded 70,000 printed copiesincluding collections of illustrations, photographs and manga. All the works revolve around women with expressions of displeasure showing their underwear in different contexts.
A work that transcends the doujin format
The manga adaptation titled Iya na Kao Sare Nagara Opantsu Misete Moraitai – Yo wa Pantsu ga Mitai zo debuted in May 2019 through the web Tonari no Young Jump and the application YanJan! by Shueisha. The manga concluded with two compilation volumes and currently the original doujin project already has 10 digital volumes published.
