Kiyono Yasuno will perform the opening of Let This Grieving Soul Retire!


The anime production team “Let This Grieving Soul Retire!” (Nageki no Bōrei wa Intai Shitai) revealed that Kiyono Yasuno will be in charge of performing the opening theme of the second season, titled “Algorithm”. Furthermore, it was confirmed that the idol group i☆Ris will give voice to the closing theme “Yume no Hitokakera”which can be translated as “Fragment of a dream.”

It is expected second season will premiere in Octoberand will be broadcast on Japanese channels M.B.S., Tokyo MX, BS NTV, sun tv and AT-Xin local time in Japan (UTC+2 in Spain).

An adventure story… and a tired protagonist

The story revolves around Krai Andreya young man who, along with his childhood friends, dreamed of becoming a legendary treasure hunter. However, over time, Krai realized that he was not cut out for that life. While his teammates continue climbing towards glory, he just wants something simple: Retire and live in peace!

This world is full of ruins, dangers and ancient relics, and although Krai wants to retire, circumstances drag him to continue involved in new adventures.

Cast and technical team behind

The main cast includes:

  • Kenshō Ono as Krai Andrey
  • Miyu Kubota as Tino Shade
  • Haruka Shiraishi as Lapis Fulgor
  • Yu Serizawa as Kris Argent
  • Satomi Amano as Chloe Welter
  • Hana Hishikawa as Éclair Gladis

The first season was directed by Masahiro Takata (High-Rise Invasion, The Iceblade Sorcerer Shall Rule the World) in the studio Zero-G. He also handled sound direction, with audio production handled by Know Links. The scripts were in charge of Hideki Shiraneand the character design was done by Yusuke Isouchi and Shingo Fujisaki. The music was composed by Ryōhei Satakawith Avex Pictures as a music producer.

In the first season, the opening theme was performed by Lezelwhile the ending was in charge of Pmarusama.

From webnovel to anime: an expanding franchise

The work was originally written by Tsukikage and published on the site Shōsetsuka ni Naro between January and December 2018. Micro Magazine released the first printed volume with illustrations by Chyko in August 2018, and volume 12 was published in September 2024.

The manga, by Rai Hebinois published on the web ComicWalker by Kadokawa since April 2019. Volume 11 of the manga was released in Japan on April 25. In the West, Yen Press publishes the manga in English, and has already released nine volumes.

On the other hand, J-Novel Club recovered the publishing rights to light novels in English after the closure of Sol Press, and has already published seven volumes, the most recent on May 19.
