The expected second season of the new Ranma ½ anime continues to reveal news before its premiere in October 2025. This time, the updated designs of Mousse and Ukyo Kuonjialong with special commentary from their respective voice actors.
Toshihiko Seki returns as Mousse
The actor Toshihiko Sekiwho originally played Mousse in the classic series, will reprise his role for this new adaptation. Known for characters like Muzan Kibutsuji in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and Duo Maxwell in Mobile Suit Gundam WingSeki commented on the excitement he feels seeing how the series will appeal so much to new fans like to nostalgic followers from the original era. He added that Mousse's role will be to “stir up history,” and asked fans to root for his character in his tireless pursuit of love for Shampoo.
Kaori Nazuka joins as Ukyo Kuonji
The actress Kaori Nazukaknown for roles such as Invisible Girl in My Hero Academia and Miyu Edelfelt in Fate/kaleid liner PRISMA ILLYAwill give life to Ukyo Kuonjianother of Ranma's potential fiancees. Nazuka confessed to having been an avid reader of Rank ½ during his school years and expressed his enthusiasm for playing his beloved “Ucchan” in this new era.
A new era for an anime classic
The remake is directed by Konosuke Ueda in the studio MAPPAwith Kimiko Ueno in the composition of the series, Hiromi Taniguchi as a character designer and Kaoru Wada on the soundtrack. The first season is now available in Netflixwhile the version Blu-ray will be released in Japan on October 8and will include a new illustration of Girl Ranma signed by Taniguchi.
The original manga Rank ½created by Rumiko Takahashiwas serialized by Shogakukan between August 1987 and March 1996. At the moment, VIZ Media publishes the series in English.
