It seems that Japanese video game developers are having a serious problem to receive the money they earn in Steam. This week it was learned that several banks in Japan have begun to block the transfers of funds from abroad, specifically since Steamwhich has generated a stir in the community.

The politician Taro Yamada, a member of the House of Representatives, went out to talk about the subject on his Twitter account, Explaining that many creators have tried to transfer their profits from the Bank of Steam in the United States to their accounts in Japan, but that banks simply reject payments. Both the Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) and the Ministry of Economy, Commerce and Industry have already confirmed that this problem is real.

According to the FSA, the reason is not only because the income comes from Videogames H. They say that it is a “comprehensive decision” based on several laws, such as the Law for the Prevention of the Transfer of Crime Products and the Law of Foreign Trade and of currency exchange. However, Yamada is not convinced and questions that, if transactions are legal and transparent, they should not be blocked without a good reason.

The politician is already in conversations with both agencies to try to fix the situation. However, it is not the first time that he intercedes in problems like this: in December last year he also denounced the suspension of payments with visa cards in Aellune, a quotation site for otakus. In addition, similar cases have been seen lately where international payment processors, especially Visa and Mastercard, have made sudden decisions that affect video game developers H, Fanart Sleeves and sites.

Many are worried because this situation becomes an obstacle to the H video game industry in Japan. The country has been promoting anime and video games as part of its economic growth strategy, so this measure seems to go against its own interests. Will there be a prompt solution or the creators will have to look for other ways to get the money they earned with their work?
