The popular manga series “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru (My Dress-Up Darling)”, written and illustrated by Shinichi Fukuda, will make the leap to television in the form of a live-action drama. The adaptation will premiere on October 8 on the MBS and TBS networks. This announcement has generated great expectations among fans, especially considering the previous success of the anime adaptation in 2022, which even ensured the production of a sequel.

The drama will star Riko Nagase and Kouta Nomura in the lead roles. Nagase will play Marin Kitagawaa charismatic and outgoing girl who has gained popularity in her class thanks to her energy and passion for cosplay. For its part, Nomura will give life to Wakana Gojouan introverted high school student who, although he feels isolated because of his unconventional tastes, is passionate about creating heads for Hina dolls.
The plot of the drama closely follows the story of the original manga, where Gojou, who feels out of place among his peers, finds an unexpected ally in Marin. The popular girl discovers his sewing skills and asks him to help her make cosplay costumes. Although Gojou is initially intimidated by the proposal, Marin's genuine excitement prompts him to accept the challenge. As the two work together, Gojou begins to step out of his comfort zone and open himself up to new experiences.
Riko Nagase expressed her excitement about playing Marin, mentioning that although her character has a striking appearance, she also possesses great sensitivity. «I really enjoy playing Marin and hope viewers appreciate both her joyful spirit and the stunning cosplay costumes and makeup that will appear in the series.» commented Nagase.

Kouta Nomura, for his part, highlighted the importance of the message of the original work, which highlights the value of being honest with oneself and accepting one's own tastes. «It is an honor to participate in such a special story. I hope viewers are inspired by the characters' dedication and growth.», declared Nomura.

The original “Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi wo Suru” series has gained a solid fan base since its debut in Square Enix's Young Gangan magazine. Its popularity skyrocketed even further with the anime adaptation, which was very well received by critics and fans. With the arrival of the drama, many are waiting to see how this new version will manage to capture the essence of the characters and the magic of the original story.
