The editorial seal Dengeki Bunko of Kadokawa announced that the author of the literary franchise of Sword Art Online, Reki Kawaharawill begin publishing a new light novel series titled Demon's Crestwith illustrations by the designer of K-On! and 7/22 (Nanabun no Nijyuuni), Yukiko Horiguchi/Shiromizakana. The first volume will be released on November 10.
The synopsis writes:
- The story is set in a mixed reality game that combines virtual reality and augmented reality. The story begins with the beta testing of the new virtual reality fantasy MMO called Actual Magic, or AM. Yuuma Ashihara, a sixth grade student, marvels at this MMO born from new technology, and begins to play and clear dungeons with his friends. Satisfied with a day of gaming and eager to play later, Yuuma logs out of the game, or so he thought.
- After defeating a dungeon boss, Yuuma's avatar is enveloped by a strange red light, after which he loses consciousness. When Yuuma comes to, he wakes up in a “New World” in which the VRMMO has merged with the real world. Before he is able to fully process the situation, Yuuma encounters his beautiful classmate Sumika Watamaki – except her appearance has changed dramatically into something resembling the game's monsters.

Besides, Sword Art Online is a light novel series written by Reki Kawahara and illustrated by Abecwhich are published through the publishing label Dengeki Bunko from the publisher Kadokawa since April 2009. The publisher published the twenty-fifth volume in December 2020, followed by the twenty-sixth in October 2021 in Japan.
